Kendrick Lamar Dazzles During NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show
After Kendrick Lamar's halftime show, who is going to play the Super Bowl next? Admittedly, the NFL are running out of truly viable modern stars. The best options have either already taken the stage or don't seem like a natural fit on such a major platform. The alternative is running the nostalgia circuit, propping different eras through team efforts. However, there's one option that hasn't been chosen yet.
I reckon we're circling a country halftime show soon. The current state of America shows an inclination towards the aesthetic; there's plenty of booze, ladies, trucks, cowboy hats, and carhartt jackets to go around. The real question is who will take over? Morgan Wallen feels like the obvious answer here, the box office draw of Nashville. However, while he's the too guy in country, he also comes with a laundry list of controversies as well. To minimize backlash wherever possible, the NFL might be inclined to go the safe route.
Suspect Post Malone to be the frontrunner for an upcoming Super Bowl halftime show. Sure, he's not your most formal country choice, pivoting into the industry just last year. But that might be the appeal. Post can shift from his various other hits into a country medley of sorts. That way, he can potentially showcase the genre's past and present just like he did on his album. If anyone spotlights the societal shift in aesthetic, it's Post Malone.
