Kevin Costner Is Reportedly "Very Angry" Over Story That Shredded Him for "Diva-Like" Behavior

Kevin Costner has turned a corner in his career - but not the way he likely wants. Instead of snagging loads of juicy roles, he is being scorched in the press. A high-profile story in The Hollywood Reporter recently slammed the star, 70, for a whole bunch of alleged offenses. Per Page Six via THR, they included "feuds, walkouts, lawsuits, financing fiascos and a growing reputation for being, as one former colleague put it, 'impossible.'"

As a result, the famed Dances with Wolves actor is said to be steaming about the negative buzz. According to Page Six, "He's said to be furious over the new Hollywood Reporter story about how he's lost the plot... He's very angry about it."

Ruckus on the Ranch? The Alleged Incident Involving Costner and 'Yellowstone' Actor Wes Bentley

But perhaps the most damning of all was an incident recounted in the story that involved an alleged on-set clash between Costner and fellow Yellowstone star, Wes Bentley. As THR told it, the actors were doing a scene. They reportedly had a pointed disagreement that nearly turned physical. Actress Kelly Reilly, who plays Costner's character John Dutton's daughter, was said to be tearful.

A rep for Bentley said the supposed tiff between Costner and Bentley was "a work-related argument during an emotional and physically tough scene." No word about the reported unpleasant encounter from Costner's people.

His Next Potential Project

Has the criticism impacted Costner's reputation in the industry? Maybe. He is said to be mulling a television series about "finding sunken treasure around the world," commented a source to Page Six. Trouble is, however, Costner is allegedly having a rough time nailing down the big bucks for such a venture. The outlet cited his "cold streak" that might be turning people off who control the purse strings.

Another Recent Costner Effort Has Apparently Tanked So Far

His so-called Horizon passion project, a quartet of Western-themed films, has not been going well either. The first installment, released last year, failed to wow many viewers. The next part has an uncertain future with "no current release date," per the outlet. Costner is supposedly looking for the money to make the third and fourth Horizon films.
