Many KFC fans remember the fateful moment when KFC potato wedges were no more. Those chunky crispy potatoes seasoned with a special blend of herbs and spices straight from the fryer were taken off the menu, never to be seen again. Instead, the Colonel slashed the wedges for new fries, and wedge-lovers everywhere saw red.

KFC Removes Potato Wedges, Adds New Secret Recipe Fries to Menu
Whether your go-to fast food restaurant is Popeyes, Chick-fil-A or McDonald's, you probably have a favorite menu item that you would be devastated to have taken off. For many a KFC customer, that item was their legendary potato wedges.
Last year, Kentucky Fried Chicken confirmed with Business Insider that french fries, a new menu item, would replace the classic side dish in stores within the next few weeks. KFC tested out the fries the year before and saw a positive response.
"While we know there are wedge-lovers out there who may be disappointed, consumer response to our Secret Recipe Fries during the test and the rollout has been overwhelmingly positive," a representative for KFC told Business Insider.
Customers of the fried chicken chain took to social media to show their distaste for the fast food chain's new fries. Some even started a petition online to bring the fried potato wedges back.
GTFOH with ?we don?t have wedges anymore. We do fries now.? @kfc Colonel? More like clown Sanders.
