Emotional Lady Gaga Gets Wisdom From a Friend and Her Fiance Before NY Concert: "You Just Have To Show Up"

I think of Lady Gaga as a powerhouse performer who is always in total control. But her emotions almost got the best of her when she was about to give a concert. She was in her old stomping ground of New York City on August 22. The flamboyant "Born This Way'" singer and actress (A Star Is Born) was a bit unsettled before stepping on stage, per Parade. Prior to the Madison Square Garden show, which was part of the singer's Mayhem Ball tour, "Gaga's emotions were high," per the outlet. Being back in the Big Apple, she was evidently reminded of the days when she was just another hopeful trying to make it in the music biz.

Lady Gaga Recalled "Fighting Really Hard"

Gaga, 39, said, "My artistry was born in this town. I lived here my entire life before I went off to pursue my dreams. But my dreams started here. I think about walking on the concrete, going all around the city and just — I remember fighting really hard, fighting really hard for my dreams and what I believed in and for myself."

A Friend Calmed Her Down

She went on, "I was with my friend China before the show and I said to her, 'I think I might just fight my way through this whole show, 'cause when I'm in New York, I fight. I gotta earn it, and I gotta go for it.'"

This friend responded with some kind words of wisdom. "Sometimes you don't have to fight, you just have to show up."

Gaga's Fiance Helped Too

Gaga's special guy, Michael Polansky, 41, said this to her. ""Right before I came onstage, my fiancé, Michael, said, 'When you go out there, let them fill you up.' I knew he was right. I knew that he was."

The Fans Were Definitely in Her Corner

Many weighed in on Instagram to buoy Gaga up with sincerely appreciative sentiments.

"It's a full circle moment for her! I'm so happy for her"

"we love you forever"

"I was there yesterday was AMAZING"

"She so deserves this"

"'When you go out there, let them fill you up.' Wow. I really hope she did"
