Lainey Wilson Has a Chance To Beat Miranda Lambert’s Record at This Year’s CMAs

Lainey Wilson could beat Miranda Lambert's record for CMA Awards this year, that is, if she wins all of her nominations.

Earlier this week, the nominees for the 2024 CMA Awards were officially announced. Top contenders include Lainey Wilson, Ella Langley, and Megan Moroney, with six nominations each. With this year's top nominees being all women, it makes us look back on years other female artists have dominated. Miranda Lambert holds the record for the most wins, but this year, Wilson has a chance to break that record. That is, if she wins in all six categories for which she's nominated.

In 2020, Miranda Lambert won a CMA for the music video for "Bluebird", putting her total CMA wins at 14. This year, Wilson is nominated in six categories: Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. In 2022, Lainey Wilson took home New Artist of the Year, a category her competitor, Megan Moroney, has already won. Newcomer Ella Langley is up for the award this year.

Lainey Wilson Shares Her Tips For Success

In 2023, Lainey also took home country music's highest honor, the Entertainer of the Year award. She then bookended this accomplishment by winning Artist-Songwriter of the Year last year. The "4X4XU" singer currently has 9 CMAs, and needs to win all six of her nominations to beat Miranda. Easy money, right?

Wilson has been pursuing a career in the music industry since she moved to Nashville in 2011. When Lainey asked how she's handling finally achieving success with "Whirlwind", she shared her insight. "I have to take moments to really like step back and zoom out, I guess you could say." She also shared of herself at the beginning of her career, "I do not think I had lived enough life at that point to tell the kind of stories I was supposed to tell you know, so I could connect who I am connecting with." She shared that she believes strongly in the timing of things, and in having the ability to turn a "no" into a "yes".

When it comes to work ethic and confidence, we have no doubt that Lainey Wilson can take home awards in both of those categories. As for the other six she's up for this year, fans will have to tune in to "country music's biggest night" on November 19th, live on ABC to see how she does.
