Lainey Wilson Says She Was Flat Broke When She Met Her Fiance

Lainey Wilson was not always the affluent superstar she is today. Back when she was working her way up, Wilson says she was broke.

Believe it or not, Lainey Wilson admits that at one time earlier in her life, she was completely out of bucks in her pocket.

A Netflix Documentary About Lainey Wilson Drops on April 22

The upcoming doc is called Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool. In a clip from it on the Netflix web site, Wilson frankly says, "I was broke. I was so broke when we [she and her husband-to-be, Devlin "Duck" Hodges} met. And he thought I was doing a little bit better than I was. Bur a few weeks after we met, my sister had to Venmo me a couple hundred bucks."

She Talks About Her Passion for Songwriting

In the Netflix program, Wilson dishes candidly about her love of writing songs. It energizes her. She said, "I knew whenever I had written my first song that I loved how it made me feel when I was in the middle of writing that song. When I was coming up with the idea, feeling like, 'Man, I created something from nothing. How cool is that?"

She realized intuitively that she had found her direction in life and in her career. Lainey Wilson continued, "And I knew that that feeling was so special that I couldn't completely let it go, and I think that's why I knew it was my calling."

Wilson Has a Career That Is Red Hot

The singer has built a flourishing professional career that rivals any other in the genre. Wilson has the awards, the status, and the respect of her peers and fans to prove it. The 33-year-old woman from Baskin, Louisiana, is a phenomenon in the music industry. And by the way, Wilson is also in a brand new movie, Reminders of Him. What she does next is anyone's guess, but it's a good bet that is will be hugely successful.
