Since she chose to play at the inauguration, there has been a fair amount of backlash. Many said they would boycott Underwood and her music, while others showed disappointment. However, she has stayed mostly quiet about it.

Her humble approach, and refusal to rise to the vitriol, have been honorable. She made only one small statement about the situation, addressing what she considered an honor. "I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future."

As she sees it, she's been asked to play at one of the biggest and most televised events in the world. She would be mad to turn it down. And, as a patriot, she's honored to be a part of the country's big day.

Lee Greenwood Weighs In On Underwood Inaugural Event

Lee Greenwood has been a loud and proud Trump supporter. In the past, his music has been used in the campaign, and he's happy to stand beside the new president. He has recently made his thoughts on the Carrie Underwood inauguration controversy known.

He will also be playing at the inauguration and had this to say about her performance. "I don't think it affects Carrie... She's going to do a great job with 'America the Beautiful.' I pity those people who think they have to reach out to a star like her and run some negativity past her when all you have to do is say, 'Thank you for performing for our next president. I mean, he is the next president. Stop this negative crap. Let's move on."

He has a very valid point too. Carrie Underwood is a patriot, and she loves her country. Consequently, she has been given the chance to perform at the inauguration of the new president. Whatever people may think about him, it's an opportunity few artists would pass up. Even the Village People did a 180 on their boycott of him.
