Lil Nas X Arrested After Hospital Stay, Pleads Not Guilty

Lil Nas X, the artist behind the hit "Old Town Road," was seen in LA wearing only underwear and cowboy boots ahead of the arrest.

After a hospital stay on Thursday, Aug. 21, Lil Nas X was "arrested for battery on a police officer." This is according to a statement provided to NBC by the Los Angeles Police Department.

"He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer," the statement read.

At his arraignment on Monday, Aug. 25, four days after his hospital arrest, the artist was charged with three counts of battery against a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He pleaded not guilty, according to Entertainment Weekly. Bail was set at $75,000, and must attend Narcotics Anonymous upon release.

Why Was Lil Nas X in the Hospital?

A video of the "Old Town Road" rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was released to TMZ. In the clips, he is seen strolling down Ventura Boulevard at 4 a.m., dressed in a pair of white briefs and cowboy boots.

In one video, Hill places a traffic cone on his head. He is also seen sashaying down an imaginary catwalk. He tells a driver to "come to the party." In another clip, he asks the person, "Didn't I tell you to put the phone down?"

Hill remarked, "Uh oh, someone's going to have to pay for that," as he walked away.

That same morning, area residents reported to the LAPD seeing a nude man walking in the road.

When police arrived, he allegedly punched an officer twice in the face. Sources say officers were unsure if Hill was under the influence or experiencing mental distress.

It's Been a Weird Year for Lil Nas X

Earlier this year, Hill was taken to the hospital to be treated for partial face paralysis. He commented on the situation, saying, "I am OK!! Stop being sad for me! Shake ur a-- for me instead!"

Hill then cleaned out his social media accounts earlier this month. He began posting teasers for a new album he has reportedly been working on. One post included an image of him wearing a fur coat and red lipstick, captioned, "OH NO SHES GONE MAD! CRAZY I TELL U!"

Another clip shows Hill in a bathrobe and boots, playing tambourine and singing, "I want to live/I want to fight."

There is also a preview of new music from Hill. His long-awaited collaboration with Lil Jon, "Kimbo," sounds like it could be another hit for the rapper.
