Despite an offer to renew his contract, Neil Cavuto has decided to retire from his long-time position as news anchor of Fox News. It doesn't come with any bad blood, or financial reasoning, and is simply time for him to step back and let some new blood in.
His career, as with any long-time journalist, has been filled with highs, lows, and plenty of controversy. What kind of a journalist would he be if he didn't rustle a few feathers? However, Neil Cavuto was a valued member of the Fox News team and they showed their appreciation for his long-time dedication to the network.
"Neil Cavuto's illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we're extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with Fox News Media. His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best in his next chapter."
Throughout his career, he was a well-recognized figure in the Fox News lineup. Although, as he noted in his goodbye speech, he may have 'missed a few days.' He is, of course, referring to his struggles with multiple sclerosis, COVID-19, and open heart surgery. Despite his health struggles, he always came back.
It's Not All Comisserations For Neil Cavuto's Departure From Fox News
One rather prominent person is rather happy to see the back of Neil Cavuto from Fox News. President-Elect, Donald Trump voiced his joy at the departure of the news anchor from the network. Donald Trump tweeted that Cavuto's job change was a 'GREAT DAY FOR AMERICA.'
The two of them had famously disagreed on many issues, with Neil Cavuto being one of the only anchors on Fox News to never interview the man while standing president. However, he had interviewed the glorious leader prior to his rise to power. He also commonly criticized him, mentioning his changeable attitudes and critiques of the country.
Now, though, he has finished with his time at Fox News. However, this is not an end to his time as a journalist simply his time with the network. Once a journalist, always a journalist. The news never sleeps.
