Luke Bryan has stuck his neck out to compliment Beyoncé amid her controversy in the country scene.

Beyoncé has struck the wrong chord with the country industry with her country album Cowboy Carter. Purists of the genre don't think attention should be given to artists who aren't inherently 'country,' and as such, lots of hatred has been piled onto the artist and her Grammy Award-winning album.
Despite this, many country artists have come forward to defend Beyoncé and her album, such as Kelsea Ballerini. Although Luke Bryan didn't mention Cowboy Carter, he paid the singer a huge compliment when sitting down with Bill Maher for the Club Random podcast.
"Beyoncé, she's probably the greatest singer in our lifetime," he said. "She's one of the best singer and performer and of all time in my opinion."
This may come as a surprise for many Luke Bryan fans, considering how huge the country star is.
"I remember seeing Destiny's Child," he continued, "and seeing Beyonce and I was like, 'that's one of the most beautiful human beings I've ever seen seen in my life.'"
The clip of him gushing over the Queen Bee was shared on the podcast and Luke Bryan's Instagram to promote the episode. There, his fans had a lot to say.
Fans React Negatively To Luke Bryan Praising Beyoncé
Naturally, the country fans are shocked and appalled that Luke Bryan complimented Beyoncé so heavily. They took to the comments to share their outrage.
"Luke! You're kidding right," writes one fan.
"How can you say she is the greatest when you sing with some of the greatest in Country Music," asks another.
"They got to Luke Bryan," half-jokes someone else.
"Uh... is he drunk? Because..." another writes.
"Absolutely not the greatest singer of all time...not even close!" disagrees one.
"She is good but there are a lot of good singers," reasons one more.
Although it's up for debate whether Beyoncé is the greatest singer of all time, it appears that Luke Bryan holds her in very high regard. She may not be a country artist, but she is so staggeringly popular for a reason.
