"I'm on tour right now. I'm actively writing songs," Bryan tells The Tennessean. "People always ask me, 'Are you working on a new album?' I don't think I ever stop really working on a new album. I'm always trying to write a little bit and find songs."

Not surprisingly, more than 18 years after Bryan's debut single, "All My Friends Say," he is still having hits at radio, including with his current single, "Country Song Came On."

"My current single, 'Country Song Came On,' is nearing the Top 10 right now, which I'm excited about," Bryan says. "But the bottom line is, get in the studio at some point and record some new music, and just keep doing the deal. Keep enjoying being a country music singer."

The Story Behind Luke Bryan's "Country Song Came On"

Bryan didn't write "Country Song Came On," which was instead written by Ryan Beaver, Dan Alley, Neil Medley. Still, Bryan, a talented songwriter on his own, chose to release the song because of his deep love of country music.

"It's just a classic country song," Bryan explains. "It's a song that I've always really - I used to cover songs like this, from Broks & Dunn to Clint Black. All the honky tonk songs, and this is my version of that. The first time I heard it, I was like, 'That says everything I wanted to say.'"

Bryan began his career by playing in local bars and clubs. Undoubtedly, it's what inspired him to release "Country Song Came On."

"'Country Song Came On' is like a honky tonk gem for me," Bryan says (via Backstage Country). "When I heard it, I was like, it brings me back to the days when I was playing a lot of honky tonks early in my career. And the fact that I was able to put ETC, which is a nod to Earl Thomas Conley, one of my favorite artists ever, just makes me smile every time I hear it. And, this song will definitely make you want to drink a draft beer."
