Luke Combs Says He's A Stay At Home Dad Most Days Of The Week

Luke Combs is one of the biggest superstars of the last several years. Combs has successfully sold out tours all over the world, not to mention won numerous awards, had multi-platinum singles and more. But when he's home, he is home, preferring to spend time with his young sons, Tex and Beau, than spend time anywhere else.

"My life is so normal outside of when I'm playing shows," Combs says on the MeatEater podcast. "I'm basically in some ways like another form of a stay-at-home parent when I'm not on the road."

"Even when we're touring the stadiums, I'm only gone three days a week," he adds. "So I'm home four days a week, full-time, sun up to sundown most days."

Combs has a large staff to help him on the road. But when he's home, it's just him and Nicole, and he wouldn't have it any other way.

"Getting the kids up, changing diapers, doing baths, cooking dinners, cooking lunches, cooking breakfasts," Combs says of his to-do list when not on tour. "And that occupies a lot of my time, but that's what I want."

"I want my kids' childhood to feel as normal as it can given the very strange circumstances that it will ultimately become," he explains.

Luke Combs' Very Modest Home

Thanks to his massive success, Combs' wealth is well into the multi-millions. But, perhaps surprisingly, his family of four lives in a very modest home, slightly smaller than the average home size in America of 2300 square feet.

"We live in a 2000 square foot house," Combs says. "It's me. It has two bedrooms. Me and my wife have a room, and then the kids, the boys, share a room. So we're always close together."

Combs' home is just part of the way Combs makes sure his life stays as normal as possible, in spite of his celebrity status.

"Outside of when I'm playing shows, I really don't do a whole lot of anything," Combs says. "Other than I go play my shows, and I come home, and I spend time with my wife and my kids. And I do whatever work stuff I have to do when I'm home, whether that's writing songs, which most of the time I'm doing at my house with my friends and stuff. I'm just there."
