Yellowstone seemed like one of those shows that could reasonably go on forever. Considering the amount of spinoffs and prequels creator Taylor Sheridan has churned out, it makes sense. Who knows what's going on in his head? Perhaps he wanted to focus more on other projects. Maybe Sheridan wanted to break out into other timelines within the Yellowstone universe. Regardless, it's clear there's plenty of material for the show. Moreover, the cast didn't want the experience to end either, according to Luke Grimes.

Recently, he spoke to PEOPLE in promotion of his upcoming Yellowstone spinoff, Y: Marshals. There, he breaks down the surreal aspect of leaving a character he devoted so many years towards in his life. Thankfully, the spinoff came along and fixed that strange emptiness Luke felt leaving the character. However, he reckons that the original show could've went on for ages. Not only is it a personal belief and something fans stand by, but the rest of the cast believes so too.
Luke Grimes Says No One Wanted Yellowstone to End
"On the last day of shooting (Yellowstone), I thought it was my last day as Kayce, it was over to me. It was seven years of playing a person that I'll never see again, except for having his hat and jacket in my closet. It wasn't until probably three or four months after that that everything started aligning for the (spinoff)... finally came along a really good idea," Luke Grimes says.
"Nobody wanted it to be over. I don't think the fans wanted it to be over. A lot of us actors kind of didn't want it to be over, and the studio and network certainly didn't want it to be over," Grimes continues. "To try to put that show away, it was hard. It was really hard, and I know this is going to sound weird, but it was sort of emotional. It was like losing a family in a way."
