WOC is proud to present Maddie Riccardo's latest single, "Barstool," a song about the challenges of dating in downtown Nashville.

When I listened to "Barstool," I was greatly surprised to see how little attention Maddie Riccardo has been given. I simply can't stand for it.
Sure, there are a million artists trying to make it, but I do believe this small artist is worth your ears. Riccardo highlights how difficult dating is in Nashville. It's a place where prospective partners either refuse to settle down or, shockingly, are already married.
Not only will the new song be very relatable to many out there, but it's delivered with stellar vocals that demand attention and notice.
In a statement shared with WOC, her team had this to say about the song. "With melancholic twang and radio-ready hooks, "Barstool" dives into the ache of dating in a town where the whiskey flows easier than commitment."
"Penned by Riccardo herself, the lyrics are raw and reflective, capturing the sting of Peter Pan-syndrome men that haunt Nashville's "small town, big city" dating scene."
You can listen to "Barstool" by Maddie Riccardo below. It will be available on streaming platforms on April 25.
Maddie Riccardo Inspired By The Real Dating Scene Plaguing Nashville
Maddie Riccardo commented on her inspirations behind the song, and shared them with WOC. Speaking on the song, she said, "After spending a couple of months working at a bar downtown, I witnessed some unforgettable moments that sparked the inspiration for 'Barstool.'"
"It's also a reflection of my conversations with friends about the challenges of dating in Nashville, where it seems like everyone's out on Broadway, always looking for the next thing."
The struggle really comes across in the song. As she sings, she pines over wanting to find love, real connection, and a life partner. Yet all she finds are those who don't want to look too far past the rim of their glass.
I know I've been perhaps over-encouraging about "Barstool," but I really enjoy it. No one is paying extra for such flowery language, and if they offered, I wouldn't take it. I'm proud to debut the song and present Maddie Riccardo to the masses.
