Man Falls Into Campsite Toilet After Trying to Fish Out Sunglasses

Authorities explained that the man was stuck in there for around 10-15 minutes before getting out. He had to be hosed down.

Everyone knows the worrying feeling that you just can't find something. Whether it's your keys, your phone, your wallet - or even a nice pair of sunglasses.

But I'm not sure I'd even go this far to get my phone, let alone my sunglasses! A man got stuck in a California campsite vault toilet trying to fish his sunglasses out of there.

According to KTLA 5, the wild incident happened on Saturday, June 20 at around 2:30pm local time. It happened at Camp Edison near the Sierra Nevada mountains.

First responders were called after a report of a "confined space rescue". That's one way to put it! They found he had fallen straight into the toilet.

In case you're not aware, toilets in natural areas like this are known for being a certain type of way. They're waterless and non-flushing, meaning down there is... stinky, to say the least.

Police Released a Statement About the Toilet Incident

Sergeant Chris Tullus of the Fresno County Sheriff's Office released a statement about the incident.

"Via a Spanish translator, they advised that the subject had fallen into the chemical storage tank. Law enforcement, Camp Edison staff, and fire personnel responded and were able to safely get him out, decontaminate him, and, he'll be okay."

Well, physically okay, sure, but I don't know whether the mental scarring of being stuck in a chemical tank can really be fixed by some decontamination.

Cal Fire ended up hosing the man down, luckily for him. He was medically checked over, and didn't have any injuries - as I say, physically at least!

But, in a tragic turn of events, we aren't sure whether the man managed to even do what he was in there for! The location and status of his glasses are currently unknown.

In terms of location, I don't think he could've picked a more idyllic spot. Camp Edison's website says, "We built Camp Edison in 1963 in a pine forest on the western shores of Shaver Lake, California. It's been a favorite vacation spot ever since."

To be honest, we're just glad the man's okay.
