The "Bubba Shot the Jukebox" singer is recovering from a low sodium count and high blood pressure, which caused him to cancel the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, stop on the tour right before going onstage. As Chesnutt continues to heal, his publicist, Don Murray Grubbs, is filling fans in on what to expect.

Grubbs shared in a statement, "Mark wants to apologize to the fans who came to see him in Baton Rouge and also to those who had planned to see him yesterday in Portales, New Mexico. He hopes to be back to perform in both cities soon." This was in reference to the canceled show in Louisiana and a canceled festival appearance in New Mexico.

According to recent updates, the country singer has also had to reschedule upcoming shows in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Princeton, and New Philadelphia, Ohio. Concert venues in these cities advise fans to "hold onto their tickets" until April 2026, when the shows have been rescheduled. The venues note that Chesnutt will not be performing "due to recent health concerns."

Chesnutt's Sobriety and Renewed Health Inspired His Redemption Tour

During COVID, Chesnutt struggled with a drinking problem and worsening back issues due to injuries he suffered in his 20s and onward. After undergoing a surgery that kept him from being able to move normally, Chesnutt fell into drinking as a crutch. "I drank all day, every day," he told American Songwriter. "I'd get up in the middle of the night and drink. I'd never stop."

In November of 2023, after an eye-opening hospital visit, Chesnutt chose to embark on his sobriety journey. This became the inspiration for his Redemption Tour, which follows a heart surgery he underwent in June of 2024. At the time, Chesnutt was optimistic about his health and the future of his music.

The honky tonk singer shared in a statement, "I'm going out with excitement and a renewed energy for all aspects of performing and possibly recording. I'm back and doing better than ever. My diet is better. I'm more active, and I feel better than I did in my 30s. I have the energy I wish I had throughout the '90s."

Now, it seems redemption will have to wait, as Chesnutt continues to focus on his healing and well-being.
