Mark Wills Inducted into the Grand Ole Opry

Mark Wills is the latest artist to join the Grand Ole Opry. The singer, who rose to fame with hits such as "Jacob's Ladder," "Places I've Never Been" and "Wish You Were Here," was inducted on Friday night (Jan. 11).

Country singer Craig Morgan was in attendance to welcome his friend and fellow artist to the Opry family.

"I'm actually humbled to be standing beside you at this moment because I remember that moment. I will never forget it and I know you won't either," Morgan told Wills. "Buddy, I love you and I'm proud for you. Welcome to the Grand Ole Opry."

Wills was invited to join the Opry back in December by Vince Gill.

Wills is the 193rd member of the Grand Ole Opry.

The decision to invite an artist to become a member of the Opry is made by the show's management. According to the Grand Ole Opry's official website, "the people who've been entrusted with the Opry's tradition and future direction take into account all the standards of success in country music—radio airplay, recorded music sales, touring success, industry recognition—when considering an act for membership." Grand Ole Opry membership requires a love and passion for country music and its fans as well as an understanding and appreciation of the music's history.
