When you think of fast food, McDonald's is likely the first name to pass through your mind. Love it or hate it, the company has established itself as the industry giant. McDonald's boasts locations in countless countries around the world.
What makes McDonald's so fun, is that there's a different menu for every country. The company caters to demographics, rather than expecting a one-size-fits-all menu to secure its dominance. Locally targeted menus consist of the "Pineapple McSpicy" in Australia. And, the McSpaghetti in the Philippines. The menus are wide-ranging and often unique.
So, it shouldn't come as a surprise that McDonald's has launched a new and potentially eye-grabbing offering in Thailand. The latest addition to Thai menus is known as "party fries," and is so big even American supersizes would take a second glance.
The super supersized fries cost 99 Thai Baht, which is approximately $2.70. They come in an extra-wide box and are made to share. And yes, they would even put Five Guys' hefty helping of fries to shame.
McDonald's "Party Fries" Originally Debuted in Malaysia
While fast-food lovers in Thailand will likely be welcoming the share-sized portion of fries, the country isn't the first to experience McDonald's potato-based generosity.
"Party Fries" were originally debuted in Malaysia on July 11 to celebrate International French Fry Day. Yes, you read that right, the world really does have a day for everything at this point. Unlike Thailand, the offering was known as "Fan Fries" in Malaysia.
"We know how much Malaysians love our fries - it's never enough! That's exactly what inspired the McDonald's Fan Fries Meal," Chin Mei Lee, McDonald's Malaysia CMO said. "We wanted to create something truly memorable that brings people together over the one item they can never resist. Whether it's with friends or family, the McDonald's Fan Fries Meal is our way of saying thank you and celebrating those joyful moments with everyone."
Unfortunately for Malaysian's, fan fries were only a limited offering lasting three days. However, with party fries now being released throughout Thailand, McDonald's fans around the world can begin to hope that a seemingly bottomless portion of fries could be heading to a store near them in the foreseeable future.
