Machine Gun Kelly, known as MGK and whose real name is Colson Baker, revealed that a prior drug-related offense has created ongoing complications.
He said the situation has prevented him from accessing expedited airport programs such as TSA PreCheck and Global Entry.
MGK Admits Past Drug Incident Still Impacts Travel
Speaking on the April 22 episode of Take Flight, MGK opened up while backstage at his Sydney, Australia show during his Lost Americana tour.
When asked why it had taken eight years for him to return to Australia, the 36-year-old opted for honesty.
"You want the media trained answer or you want the honest answer?" he asked.
The host replied, "I'd love the honest answer."
MGK then revealed he was "caught with cocaine on the way back from New Zealand."
"Traveling was difficult because I have a level 1 narcotics possession or whatever. So it makes it hard for me to get visas and all that stuff to get over here," he continued.
"My statute of limitations is like, 10 years or something. I still don't get [TSA] PreCheck or Global Entry or any of that fast stuff in the airport."
Artist Reflects on Sobriety and Personal Growth
MGK added that the consequences still affect his day-to-day travel experience.
He joked that he's "still stuck in lines like normal."
The artist has not previously spoken publicly about the alleged incident, and it remains unclear when it occurred.
In recent years, however, he has been open about his journey toward sobriety.
During an August 2024 appearance on Bunnie Xo's Dumb Blonde podcast, MGK said he was "completely sober from everything."
He has previously discussed his struggles with substance use, including cannabis, heroin, cocaine, alcohol, and Adderall, and confirmed he sought treatment.
"I don't drink anymore. I haven't drank since last August," MGK added. "That was my first time I ever went to rehab."
"Dude, I woke up and spent some time in the sun today just sitting with my palms up being grateful, just asking God to keep dropping more blessings into my hand."
MGK is a father of two daughters, 16-year-old Casie and 13-month-old Saga, whom he shares with ex-partner Megan Fox.
