The future of Hollywood as we know it might be in jeopardy. There's been worry from actors and directors that Los Angeles might not be the home of cinema much longer. The expenses are becoming too absurd to maintain. Additionally, there are guys like Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey petitioning for Texas to be the new hub of filmmaking. Eventually, the City of Stars might render itself useless. Michelle Pfeiffer has been in the industry long enough to share these concerns. However, she does offer a potential solution to save Hollywood from collapse.

Recently, she made a speech after her hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater. There, the actress admits that the last 23 projects she's worked on, only three have been shot in LA. Consequently, Pfeiffer fears that Hollywood might not be an industry town anymore. But she does theorize ways the powers that be can remedy the situation.
Michelle Pfeiffer Says Tax Incentives Might Save Hollywood
"I don't know lot about the politics of it all, but I know you need to bring back tax incentives," Pfeiffer says. "People look at the bottom line for productions — where are we going to get the most for our dollars because you want all that money to go on screen, and if you're saving $4 million by going somewhere else, or even a million, that's huge."
"I know it's probably more complicated than it appears, but...the jobs are not gone. They've just moved. We gotta bring them back," Michelle stresses.
This isn't an uncommon sentiment. Ben Affleck argues that California quietly took the filmmaking industry for granted. In assuming that Hollywood would always reign, other havens opened up instead. Moreover, Michelle Pfeiffer has seen the shift happen with guys like Taylor Sheridan frequently running his productions in Texas. Eventually, people will feel like they don't necessarily need LA. Rather, they'll retreat from the public eye entirely until it's time to promote something.
