Miley Cyrus Reflects On Losing Her Home To Fire Amid Current Devastation In California

On January 11, amid the California wildfires, Miley Cyrus shared her own experience with her followers. Cyrus herself lost her home during the Woolsey Fire, one of the many fires that ignited simultaneously in 2018. Cyrus shared a photo of her burned-down front porch and also linked to several organizations, inviting her followers to donate.

"This image hits me hard in the heart today. This is a photo taken of my front porch in 2018 after losing our house in the Woolsey fires. It's a feeling you don't ever forget," Cyrus wrote on X. "Walking up to the door you would pass through daily, looking forward to being greeted by the ones you love like you always do but instead being met by a pile of ash and rubble."

Miley Cyrus' home burned during the Woolsey Fire, which burned almost 97 thousand acres across Los Angeles County and Ventura County in California back in November 2018. The fire killed three people and caused the evacuation of almost 300,000.

"My soul aches for those who are experiencing this devestation [sic] firsthand and I cry for my city. It's beyond heartbreaking," Cyrus continued. "Los Angeles represents "living the dream" but the reality today is wreckage and destruction."

Cyrus then shared several links for her followers to donate. These include the Malibu Foundation, one that Miley Cyrus helped start back in 2018, a GoFundMe campaign for the Community Brigade, and the World Central Kitchen.

"Time, resources, and dedication from inside and outside of our community will heal us, but it hurts deeply for now. Love always, Miley," Cyrus concluded.

2018 Fire

Back in 2018, Miley Cyrus shared the sad news of the burning of her house. Thankfully, both her partner at the time and her animals were left unharmed.

"Completely devastated [sic] by the fires affecting my community. I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that's all that matters right now," Cyrus wrote at the time. "My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong. I am grateful for all I have left. Sending so much love and gratitude to the firefighters and LA country Sheriff's department!"
