Daily had begun his trip on the Swan Lake Trail; however, after taking a wrong turn, he found himself in unfamiliar territory, leading him to become lost in the wilderness. Fortunately, Dailey had enough food and water provisions to last him two weeks, ensuring that, along with his car for shelter, he could survive his ordeal.
Unfortunately for Dailey, things went from bad to worse when his truck broke down. As such, he had to make the difficult decision to start walking in the hope of finding help.
"'Now this is it Ron, two days of hunting - you either try to walk out or you're gonna sit here and die,'" Dailey recalled saying to himself when speaking with ABC News.
A Group of Hikers Found Dailey
After almost three weeks of navigating the Sierra National Forest on foot, a group of hikers fortunately stumbled upon Dailey on Nov. 1. During that same time, local agencies had been scouring the forest to try to find the missing hunter.
"I can't hardly walk anymore, Lord, you gotta help me Father God. I raised my head up, there was a car with headlights on and I go, 'Oh God, thank you Lord,'" Dailey recalled to ABC 7.
Dailey was then taken to Clovis Community Medical Center, where he was expected to be released on Monday, Nov. 3.
