Morgan Wallen is leading the pack of young, dynamic country music artists these days. At age 32, he has achieved it all - impressive record sales, sold-out concerts, loads of prestigious awards, and fans clamoring for more. His latest project, I'm the Problem, "is already breaking records, earning the title of most-streamed country album of 2025 (so far) just twelve hours after its release last week," per Whiskey Riff.

But his behavior has at times been puzzling and sometimes erratic, to say the least. For instance, Wallen allegedly threw a chair off of the sixth-floor roof of Chief's Bar in Nashville last year, almost hitting two police officers. More recently, he abruptly walked off the stage at the end of a Saturday Night Live episode he performed on, surprising and mystifying many.
So what's up with this country music superstar? Well, his uninhibited granny might know. She recently spoke out candidly about her famous grandson.
Mamaw Kay Was Pretty Upfront About Her Grandson, Morgan
You gotta love this woman! She was a guest on a radio station in Tennessee, WIVK 107.7. She was open to "disclosing that her grandson still does not cuss around her to sharing that his favorite dish she makes is corn....," per the outlet. Sounds like a regular guy to me!
This lady was asked some "rapid-fire" questions. She did not shy away from responding to them. Actually, one answer she gave was quite illuminating indeed. When Mamaw Kay was asked what characteristic Wallen got from her side of the family, she retorted, "Being crazy." Whoa! That may have been a little too forthright for some.
The Family Doesn't Mind Discussing His Exploits; Wallen Himself Has Faced The Music For His Actions
Their frankness is refreshing. No stonewalling or whitewashing for them when it comes to being straightforward about Wallen's unsettling conduct. As for him, he has commendably taken responsibility for his actions. In fact, the cover art for his album is derived from a courtroom sketch (Wallen found himself in such a setting in December, when he "pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges" for the chair incident, per ABC News.)
Per the outlet via Apple Music's Today's Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen, Wallen explained the cover art and what he thinks about it.
He shared, "I didn't want to use my exact court image because it's not, I wasn't... I don't know. I feel like [it was too real]. So I just wanted to just pay a little bit of homage to that and make people say, 'Hey, is that what that is?' And I feel like we toed the line of it pretty well, and I think it looks cool."
