Morgan Wallen Releases 'Get Me to God's Country' Merch Amidst SNL Controversy

In an unbelievably lame and predictable turn of events, Morgan Wallen is capitalizing off of his controversy on SNL. To briefly recap, he essentially storms off of the Saturday Night Live set on camera as the credits rolled. The cast members were incredibly confused at this tremendous lack of subtlety and fans were heated. To make matters worse, Wallen posts on Instagram from his private jet, "Get me to God's country."

This only makes matters worse for Morgan Wallen. He either comes across like a standoff-ish jerk or it acts as an extension to all of his highly problematic scandals. Regardless, he's as unlikable as ever to a lot of people. So what's the best way to navigate this? Is it A: sincerely apologize? Is it B: send out a blanket apology statement and hope that's enough? Or could it be C: just say nothing and hope it all blows over? Apparently, it's D: try and sell people stuff off of bad press.

Morgan Wallen Capitalizes on Controversy With New Merch

On Wallen's shop, he's peddling some new merchandise that references his snooty Instagram post. There's three items in total, all brandished with a 'Get me to God's Country' slogan plastered front and center. There's a white tee and two trucker hats in variations of tan and dark blue. The hats are good colorways from Morgan; it's almost worth buying if it weren't so lame.

It certainly doesn't help him beat the huckster allegations that seems to pollute so much of modern society. Clearly, I'm not alone in feeling this way, with plenty of people online collectively rolling their eyes at this merch drop. Take one person who notices this trend in conman activity. "Everyone is a grifter, everything is so cynical, everything is so smug and sucky and self righteous. Bad timeline lately," they tweet of Morgan Wallen.

In another sense, one person simply argues that this is just a silly idea conceptually. Desperately trying to get ahead of this overlooks how ridiculous it is to make shirts and hats about leaving a party early. Again, it makes Morgan Wallen look like a goober or thinks his diehard audience will buy anything. Maybe both things can be true. Regardless, it's kind of absurd in a vacuum. "Love to sell hats and T-shirts about the time I was at a party and nobody liked me so I left early," one person writes.
