Morgan Wallen is definitely one of the hottest artists in country music and the recording industry. His work has shattered one benchmark after another. He has achieved amazing popularity in a relatively short span. Wallen can also be quirky, too. He was the guest on SNL a few months ago, for example. The singer suddenly walked out of camera view at the end of the broadcast instead of standing around and schmoozing with the cast. People were puzzled by his behavior. Now, Wallen has given us a new twist to ponder. He is reportedly skipping Grammy consideration for his album, I'm the Problem, per Whiskey Riff.

Wallen Looks To Be Bypassing Contention for This Major Award
According to the outlet via Hits Daily Double, "Sources in the 615 tell us that Morgan Wallen has elected not to submit his chart-topping album 'I'm the Problem' (Big Loud/Mercury/Republic)—far and away the biggest release of the year—for Grammy consideration."
Furthermore, "The Academy's gatekeepers, you'll recall, have never been particularly receptive to Wallen, though those who ought to know tell us there was no rancor in the decision, which they described as a measured 'No, thank you.'"
The Album Has Met With Stunning Popularity
This situation is pretty confounding. While nothing is ever a shoo-in for a prestigious award, the LP has been a mammoth triumph for Wallen. Per the outlet via Chart Data, "It's the most successful album of the year by units sales and weeks at #1." The album has been at the top of Billboard's Top Country Albums list for 13 consecutive weeks.
How Come Wallen Is Apparently Opting Out?
This is just speculation, but the singer has made some pretty bad past gaffes that may still be in the minds of those in the Recording Academy. He allegedly flouted pandemic rules and uttered offensive racial comments. Those incidents were reportedly caught on video. Also, Wallen did not seem too impressed when he landed the coveted Entertainer of the Year honor from the CMA last year.
There is yet another factor to consider. Selling tons of records does not always translate into receiving major industry awards. Per the outlet, a trustee of the Nashville chapter of the Recording Academy, Tracy Gershon, said, "I would say, unlike other awards, the Grammy voters don't necessarily vote on commercial popularity. In fact, they tend to vote on artistic merit."
Nominations for the 2026 Grammys will be made public on November 7, 2025. The Grammy Awards ceremony will be on February 1, 2026. It should be interesting!
