Joy Reid's show The ReidOut has been canceled by MSNBC in a major programming shakeup made by the network. The network's new president, Rebecca Kutler, is behind the sudden programming changes made at MSNBC. Joy Reid will host her final evening news show episode this following week.

According to The New York Times, anonymous sources reveal that MSNBC will replace Reid's 7 p.m. ET show with another show anchored by three individuals. Reportedly, Symone Sanders Townsend, a former Democratic strategist, Michael Steele, a former Republican National Committee chairman, and Alicia Menendez, a journalist, will anchor the show,
Townsend, Steele, and Menendez currently host The Weekend, a Saturday and Sunday show that airs during the mornings. The name of the new show which will replace Joy Reid and The ReidOut - which started airing in 2020 - is currently unknown. However, according to Fox News, the show will air Monday through Friday. It will be two hours long on Mondays and one hour long from Tuesday to Friday.
MSNBC Programming Changes
More changes have taken place at MSNBC, as Rebecca Kutler continues to overhaul the network's programming as part of her new strategy. Alex Wagner, for example, who used to host Alex Wagner Tonight Tuesdays through Fridays at 9 p.m. ET will not return to his primetime slot moving forward.
Wagner was previously bumped by Rachel Maddow and The Rachel Maddow Show after she returned to host her show daily during Donald Trump's first 100 days in office. Wagner is expected to remain on the network as an on-air correspondent.
Furthermore, Jen Psaki, according to sources, will also occupy one of the weekly primetime hours. It is also possible that Psaki will occupy the 9 p.m. ET slot after Maddow returns to her regular weekly show following Trump's 100 days.
During a February meeting, Kutler expressed her excitement over the network's future.
"This is going to be a really exciting time but also a challenging time," Kutler said, according to CNN. "I think it's important that we as leaders are honest about that and about the challenges ahead. Our jobs are hard on a normal day, and these are not normal times."
Joy Reid hosted AM Joy, a weekend talk show on MSNBC, from 2016 to 2020 before The ReidOut started airing in 2020.
