MSNBC Reportedly Offers Joy Reid Reduced Salary To Stay

Post-election, many news outlets are struggling for viewers as people turn from their TVs and settle into the new era of Trump. Because of this, they're all feeling the squeeze. As a result, presenters like Joy Reid are being asked by MSNBC to take a reduced salary for her show.

The left-leaning outlet had a huge viewership, pre-election, keeping outraged trump advocates incensed, and sympathetic democrats seeking guidance. However, since the election, the viewership has dropped off. This is inevitable and has hit all outlets across the board.

However, due to this drop-off, MSNBC is tightening its belt. This has resulted in presenters like Joy Reid being asked to take a reduced salary. Unless she can drum up more viewers somehow, then she may just have to take the pay cut and get on with it.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Joy Reid is on a considerable $3 million a year salary. However, amid dropping viewership, this will have to be reduced. The Ankler Newsletter also reported that Stephanie Ruhle, host of MSNBC's nightly show The 11th Hour, will be taking a pay cut.

Joy Reid Attempted To Ignite Her Viewers But Didn't Save Her Salary

Post-election, and just pre-thanksgiving, Joy Reid made a rather controversial broadcast about the division of the US people. Nothing drives a wedge between the population like a presidential election, and Reid got right behind it.

In her pre-thanksgiving rant, she lambasted the Trump voters watching her show. She told them that, because of their beliefs, they should expect their democratic family members to shun them. And, that they are racist, bigoted people, who deserve to eat their Thanksgiving meals alone. She got a whole lot of hate for this, along with some support too.

However, this inflammatory rant wasn't enough to bring in the viewers Joy Reid needed to save her salary. The inevitable drop in viewers post-election still hit MSNBC hard enough to start cutting pay.

I am sure the next time some large election scandal kicks off, MSNBC and its controversial broadcasts will be back to their former numbers. People need to get opinions from somewhere.
