Controversial, inflammatory, and fun to watch Joy Reid has lost a significant amount of her viewers since Donald Trump won the election. Apparently, now the election is over, they're just not that interesting.

MSNBC's Joy Reid was averaging a staggering 1.4 million viewers in the lead-up to the election. However, since, according to Nielsen Media Research, they have fallen back to 750,000. This equates to 47%, which is no small amount.
Joy Reid took a huge hit to the 25-54 demographic too, with 52% of these viewers choosing to tune in elsewhere. This is the coveted collection too, as they are the most advertising susceptible.
However, it wasn't just Reid that took a hit after the election. MSNBC's whole network has seen a significant dip in viewership since President-Elect Trump took the throne. Only Rachael Maddow has managed to maintain a plus million viewer number since. Even so, she has still seen a 47% drop.
Why Has Joy Reid And MSNBC Lost So Many Viewers?
If we also take a look at a number of the other news networks in the US, a drop in viewers is always expected after the election. Citizens turn to their TVs for news and opinions in the presidential race, and many more tune in. Once the excitement is over, people like Joy Reid are sure to lose a few viewers.
Besides this, the news is just a little bit too depressing these days. Many people are choosing to turn their TVs off and tune out for a little while. This election has had a number of people rather depressed, and listening to a host like Joy Reid lament the loss just isn't good for the mental health.
In addition to this, Joy Reid has divided her viewers. Recently, she lashed out at Trump voters, berating them, and insulting many. For some, perhaps not on the extreme side of the vote, this came as a little heavy-handed. "Make your own sandwiches, wipe your own tears, troll amongst yourselves with Elon, and leave us alone," she said on her show.
Her Thanksgiving outburst drove the wedge between left and right further. She supported the separation of families and friends over Thanksgiving due to political beliefs. Rather than trying to bring together a country separated by a rocky election, she encouraged hatred. In a world so full of it already, I think many viewers just chose to turn Joy Reid off.
