Last Sunday, June 15, the first episode of Duck Family Treasure aired. For the next four Sundays, a new episode will air on FOX Nation. And the network hooked us up with a great clip of the fifth episode, where Murry Crowe finds something pretty valuable.
People simply can't get enough of the Duck family. Duck Dynasty: The Revival has been airing over on A&E, and we're currently on the fourth episode of season 1. With Duck Family Treasure having started too, you'll get a double bill of your favorite family.
In the sneak peek, you'll see Murry Crowe get all excited over finding something when the team was treasure hunting in Virginia. Apparently, he had been silent for hours, but finally found something worth hollering about. After some more excavation, they unearth a tiny metal disk.
They bring out the water and magnifying glass, and are shocked and delighted to see what they uncovered.
You can watch the clip below.
The Old And Surprising Item They Found
After clearing up and taking the item to the magnifying glass, they uncovered that the item is a 300-year-old Spanish real.
The coin was minted in 1726, making it almost exactly 300 years old. Jase and Jep Robertson and Murry Crowe jump for joy. This is the oldest coin Crowe has uncovered, so he is pretty pumped about it.
"Wooh, that thing's worth some money, good grief," said Jep after a quick Google search.
Finding the 18th century silver coin encouraged the team to keep treasure hunting in that spot, to see if they can't find any more old Spanish coins lying around.
The show provided some more context on the Spanish real. It was a currency used by colonists in colonial America, as the British didn't allow the colonies to make their own money. Financial freedom means independence, after all, and the colonizers didn't like the sound of that.
So colonists were left to either barter goods, or use the Spanish real.
It's a brilliant find, so stay tuned on FOX Nation to watch what else they dig up in Duck Family Treasure.
