Her son, Dillon, announced in a YouTube video that she died on Thanksgiving Day. This news comes after both Pauline and Dillon were injured in a car accident in January. The incident totaled their car and broke several of Pauline's ribs.

What Happened to "My 600-lb Life" Star and Her Son?

Dillon says in the video's caption that he wanted to "make this video before any news articles or other video channels spread lies or rumors about what happened."

He then shared his memory of the accident.

"We were driving on a dark two-lane highway, and there was a truck and trailer that was stopped in the middle of the road," he said. "We did not see it because they didn't have any lights on."

He continues, "The guy claimed that he ran out of gas, but for whatever reason, he still didn't have his lights on. We hit the trailer. Because he didn't have lights on, we didn't see it until it was too late, and we were right up on it."

Dillon says he was asleep in the passenger seat when his mom attempted to swerve around the stopped truck and trailer. Their car struck the corner of the trailer and spun out as a result.

Things Went From Bad To Worse for Pauline Potter

According to Dillon, the severity of her injuries, plus a SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis, caused Pauline to remain hospitalized for most of the year. She developed digestive issues and had a "blockage in her esophagus," causing her food to come back up. She also showed signs of heart and respiratory failure. However, she left the hospital for hospice care and stayed with her sister on Nov. 19.

Despite being in good spirits, Pauline had trouble keeping food down and was in a lot of pain. But it was on Thanksgiving afternoon when Dillon was told she had died. No autopsy has been performed yet.

"I did hear a doctor in the hospital once say that it is possible this was all related to the car accident, but we don't have that in writing," said Dillon.

Dillon has set up a GoFundMe to help with cremation expenses. You can watch Dillon's video below.
