‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Actress and Liam Hemsworth Co-Star Has Died “Unexpectedly” at 45

Rachael Carpani had been dealing with a chronic illness, and unfortunately, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 45

Rachael Carpani has died at the age of 45. Upon learning of her death, Rachael's sister, Georgia, released a touching statement on Instagram.

"It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday, 7th December," the statement read.

The Australian actress was primarily seen on television, including NCIS: Los Angeles and Against The Wall. However, she also had some success in the movie world, primarily on the 2009 movie Triangle, where she starred alongside Hollywood A-Lister Liam Hemsworth.

Nevertheless, most of Rachael's success came in Australia, where she was best known for her role as Jodi Fountain on McLeod's Daughters. She also had a short role in the Australian soap opera Home and Away.

Rachael Carpani's Sister, Georgia, Recently Sent Her a Birthday Tribute

Earlier this year, Georgia posted a touching tribute for her sister on Instagram. The kind message was sent on Rachael's birthday.

"Whether she's done up and going out or staying in and working, she's the most beautiful woman I know," Georgia wrote. "Happiest of birthdays to my gorgeous sister @rachcarpani. You bring so much light and joy and we love you so much!"

Clearly, the two sisters were close. Rachael will undoubtedly be missed. The fact that her death was unexpected will only add to the complexity of emotions.

Rachael Carpani's Family Request Privacy

In the same statement regarding Rachel's death, Georgia noted that the funeral will take place on Friday, December 19. The ceremony will be a private event for family and close friends.

"The funeral will be a private event, to be held on Friday, 19th December with close family and friends," the statement continued. "The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements."

Any subsequent service will likely also be kept private, as the family begins the grieving process. As such, fans have begun leaving their well-wishes and tributes below Georgia's statement on Instagram. Some of those tributes have undoubtedly brought smiles and tears to the family.
