Oliver Anthony has a strange relationship with the industry. One moment, he's hellbent on escaping any and all industry dealings. He wants to hide away in the woods, never to be seen again unless it's for ministry purposes. "I'm in the process of getting out of the music industry. It's a big joke," he says back in March.

"The plan is to eventually change my entire focus to traveling ministry work. It's all part of this Rural Revival thing. I just have to go at it in baby steps since it's completely DIY. No, I'll still be releasing music just like normal, I'll just be set up legally as a ministry," Oliver adds.
It's certainly admirable; the music business certainly isn't for anyone, especially for someone as thorny to fame as Anthony. However, now, it seems like he's dipping his toes back into the field. With a new single to promote and a famous fan propping it up, he's going back to the spotlight.

Recently, Anthony hopped on Instagram with an announcement. He thanks all of his fans for supporting his recent single, "Scornful Woman." He admits that he's been pretty quiet on the music front in his ambitions to move on from the industry itself. But now, he wants to start "having some fun."
"I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me. I know I haven't put a lot of music out since 'Richmond,'" Oliver says. "To be honest, I've spent the past 6 months trying to reverse all the mistakes I made with my business the first year and a half, so I wanna start actually having some fun.
Next weekend I'm doing the [Comedy] Mothership. Their first music show there ever. I'll be hanging out with Joe Rogan and who knows, there might be a camera there. Anything could happen," Oliver adds.
I'm not sure this is what I expected when he said he would enter the ministry arc of his career. But I'm glad he's comfortable to head back on the stage and not be such a recluse.
