The Olympian recently revealed she had yet another surgery. Vonn fractured her leg after crashing downhill at the Winter Games. It was just weeks after she tore her ACL but pushed through to compete.

"I had my 3rd surgery today and it was successful," Vonn wrote in an Instagram post. "Success today has a completely different meaning than it did a few days ago. I'm making progress and while it is slow, I know I'll be ok.

"Thankful for all of the incredible medical staff, friends, family, who have been by my side and the beautiful outpouring of love and support from people around the world. Also, huge congrats to my teammates and all of the Team USA athletes who are out there inspiring me and giving me something to cheer for."

Olympian Has Long Road Ahead

The Olympian has a long road ahead of her. She will need plenty of recovery after back to back devastating injuries. Vonn pushed through an ACL tear to make it to the Olympics. But she sadly crashed during her first run at the Winter Games. The Olympian needed to be airlifted to the hospital.

It's very possible the Olympian may never compete again. At least, her father, Alan Kildow, hopes so, for her own health.

"She's 41 years old and this is the end of her career," Kildow told the Associated Press on Monday. "There will be no more ski races for Lindsey Vonn, as long as I have anything to say about it."

He described witnessing the crash as horrific and shocking.

"First, the shock and the horror of the whole thing, seeing a crash like that," Kildow said of the scene. "It can be dramatic and traumatic. You're just horrified at what those kinds of impacts have. You can go into a shock — an emotional psychological shock. Because it's difficult to just accept what's happened. But she's well cared for."
