Pro athletes manage to tune out distractions that prevent them from focusing on the game at hand. But Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has a heartbreaking situation in his family right now. Putting it completely out of his mind will not be easy, despite what is at stake tonight. Per Athlon Sports, Mahomes' granddad, who is his mom Randi's father, is reportedly very ill. He is receiving hospice care while bravely "hanging on" to watch his grandson Patrick steer the Chiefs to their third straight historic Super Bowl win.

For Mahomes, this must be so painful. He knows what he needs to accomplish on the field, but he is also human. Setting aside his grandfather's situation, even for just a few hours, will surely be challenging.
