Patrick Muldoon Cause of Death Revealed After Sudden Passing at 57

Patrick Muldoon’s cause of death has been confirmed, with new details emerging about the soap star’s sudden passing at age 57.

The cause of death of soap opera icon Patrick Muldoon has been confirmed.

The beloved TV star died suddenly on Sunday, April 19, at the age of 57.

According to Us Weekly, Muldoon's death certificate lists myocardial infarction as the immediate cause of death. This is commonly known as a heart attack.

The death certificate, released by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, also confirmed that Muldoon was cremated on Tuesday, April 28.

Additional details outlined underlying health conditions that contributed to his death.

"The underlying causes included hereditary coagulopathy disorder, a genetic condition that impairs the blood's ability to form clots properly," the report adds.

"Pulmonary embolism was also listed as an underlying cause, which is a blood clot that travels to and blocks a vital artery or the lungs."

Following Muldoon's passing, his sister, Shana Muldoon Zappa, shared further details about the events leading up to his death.

She told TMZ that her brother had been at home in Beverly Hills on the Sunday morning. He was drinking coffee with his girlfriend before going to take a shower.

Final Moments and Legacy Remembered

According to Muldoon Zappa, his girlfriend became concerned after he had been gone for an unusually long time and went to check on him.

The actor was found unconscious on the bathroom floor, prompting an emergency response.

Paramedics were called to the home and attempted to revive him, but "there was nothing anyone could do."

Muldoon rose to prominence for his role as Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives. He starred from 1992 to 1995 before returning to the role between 2011 and 2012.

He also gained recognition for portraying villain Richard Hart on Melrose Place across seasons three to five.

On the big screen, Muldoon appeared in several films, including the 1997 sci-fi hit Starship Troopers. He played Zander Barcalow in the movie.

His upcoming project, Dirty Hands, a crime thriller, remains scheduled for release later in 2026.

Most recently, he had been attached as an executive producer on Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, and Zazie Beetz, which is currently in production.
