Paul Simon's daughter, Lulu Simon, has bashed Richard Gere online after he went back on his promise to preserve her 31.8-acre childhood home.

Lulu Simon has gone on a tirade on her Instagram as she colorfully hated on the man who bought her childhood estate in 2022. Richard Gere purchased the home for just over $10 million. Now, however, it's being torn down.
According to Realtor, Gere originally wanted to make a portion of the land into a farm. There was a change of heart, though, as Gere sold the house to SBP Homes in November for $10.75 million when he and his wife decided to move to Spain.
Now sold, the 1938 six-bedroom brick Colonial is being demolished, and the near-32 acres of land is being divided into 9 separate plots.
This has apparently devastated Lulu Simon.
Angry, she took to her Instagram story on Tuesday. The New York Post captured the stories before they expired.
Lulu Simon "Hates" Richard Gere After Selling Her Childhood Home
On her Instagram story, Lulu Simon wrote, "Just in case anyone was wondering if I still hate Richard Gere - I do!"
"He bought my childhood home, promised he would take care of the land as condition of his purchase. Proceeded to never actually move in & just sold it to a developer as 9 separate plots," she explained.
"Hate him!"
She later uploaded another edited photo. She surrounded a cropped photo of Richard Gere with photos of her long-gone childhood pets. A caption read, "I hope my dead pets buried in that backyard haunt you until you descend into a slow and unrelenting madness."
No other details were shared by Lulu Simon.
It's not just her that's upset about the tearing down of the old mansion. Reggie Young, founder of Hudson Valley House Parts of Newburgh, NY, told Realtor that it's a "real shame."
"Once the stuff is gone, it's never coming back."
He and his team were able to salvage parts of the old mansion, thankfully. Although the process was a tough one to watch. "This is like watching a horror movie," he said. "So sad this is being dismantled but grateful you're saving it for a new use."
