Phil Robertson Opened Up About How He Wanted Fans To Celebrate His Death

It's natural to cry under the immense grief that comes with a loved one passing away. That sense of tangibility isn't there anymore; what it means to be alive is gone from someone you cherished the most. None of us truly knows what happens when we pass away. That's what makes the prospect of death so terrifying. But Christian faith offers a sense of hope amidst the uncertainty of life: you could see those you've lost again one day. Whether that's in heaven or in the resurrection hope. It's this hope that allows Phil Robertson's family to grieve with a slight sense of celebration.

Recently, the grizzled Duck Dynasty star passed away after battling a variety of health conditions, including Alzheimer's. His daughter-in-law Korie confirms this news on all of their social media and speaks about how they're choosing to celebrate Phil's passing due to their faith.

The Reason Why Phil Robertson Wanted Family and Fans to Celebrate When He Died

"We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, 'you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him,'" Korie writes.

Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, by his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus. We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again," she concludes of Phil.

This isn't merely a biblical sentiment he shared amongst family either. In an old podcast clip, Robertson

stresses how he doesn't want his family in tears. Instead, he wants them to rejoice. Why? He firmly believes he'll see them all again. Consequently, Phil wants his family singing and dancing at his funeral. "Do not cry when I die," he emphasized. "Dance, sing, but don't cry when I die. When I die, say, 'He made it because I watched him walk through the years, hurt back or no back.'"
