Popular Singer Has Visa Revoked Before Packed Out Dallas Stadium Concert

Thousands of fans are very upset now after a popular singer had to cancel his sold-out Dallas Stadium concert. Unlike some cancellations, this wasn't the singer's fault. Instead, it appears to be the U.S. government's fault.

Mexican singer Julión Álvarez revealed he had to postpone a sold-out show at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Mexican native had his visa revoked by the government before the concert. So, according to the Instagram post, he can't perform for more than 50,000 fans.

Julión Álvarez y Su Norteño Banda didn't perform on Saturday. The concert was postponed on Friday after his visa was canceled.

Singer Speaks Out

"Sadly, the event will not go on as planned due to our work visa being canceled," he said in Spanish. "It is not possible for us to go to the United States and fulfill our show promise with all of you. It's something out of our control. That's the information I have, and it hurts."

This comes after the singer already sent his production company to Texas to prepare for the concert. His response drew plenty of fan support, however.

"First artist I see making a formal, clear, official statement and without any pretext other than something legal...That's why I love you Julioooon," one wrote. Another wrote, "The only who apologizes personally, even though he's not at fault."

Yet another wrote, "My mom says marry her so you don't fight with visas anymore."

It's not the first time that the singer encountered issues with his US visa. He had his visa previously canceled in 2017. At the time, the US government accused him of being connected to drug trafficker Raul Flores Hernandez. Its claims that the singer has heavily denied.

The singer apparently managed to work his way back into the government's good graces. But what happened since then is unknown. The US government won't comment on the singer or why they decided to cancel his visa. It comes at an inopportune time for both the singer and fans.

"Visa records are confidential under US law; therefore, we cannot comment on individual cases," a State Department spokesperson told NBC News.
