Priscilla Block Recalls Bad Craigslist Roommates: “I Did Get Robbed”

Priscilla Block appears to be fearless in all aspects of her life.

She turns perceived flaws into strengths with anthems like "Couldn't Care Less" and "Thick Thighs." These songs about body image show her willingness to be her authentic self and not conform to expectations.

Furthermore, she doesn't give much credence to the haters. She embraced her look for the 2024 CMT Awards, despite country fans having a lot to say about it.

Even after the 30-year-old moved to Nashville at just 17, she knew she would make it. However, as she explained on a recent episode of the podcast Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley, it was far from easy.

Priscilla Block Didn't Know Anyone When She Moved to Nashville

Block said that she knew she wanted to be a songwriter when she was 15. So, a couple of years later, with very little in the way of money or connections, the North Carolina native headed to Music City.

"It's wild looking back; I was just this fearless, young girl," said Block. "I had this dream, I knew I was meant to do it, I graduated from high school early, I came out here, I didn't know anyone when I moved to Nashville."

In recounting her first days, Block says her naivety led to her living "in some crazy places." She hopped on Craigslist to find a roommate. Her first weekend in Nashville, Block was robbed. While the moment built Block's character, her parents had a lot to say about it.

"My dad's like, 'I knew that place was a dump,'" she recalled. "Then my mom's like, 'Be quiet! That's all she can afford.'"

She adds, "It's been a journey....There were some sketchy times. I've definitely lived in some crazy places. But, it's what makes me, me, and it makes all of this so much sweeter."

Block's Dream Will Come True Next Year

Now, things are coming full circle for Block. The singer is heading out on tour next year for the Things You Didn't See Tour. One of the stops will be Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.

"Headlining the Ryman is one of the biggest bucket list moments of my life," Block said in a press release. "This will be an unforgettable night, and I can't wait to share it with y'all."
