"Damn, Why Isn't This Happening?": Singer Priscilla Block Shares What She Learned About the Myth of Overnight Success

Miranda Lambert has an incredible work ethic. She has spoken frankly about how challenging it was to get to the top of the country music heap. That same holds true for Lainey Wilson. Both women are now superstars, but achieving that status was not a cinch for either of them. Both happen to be role models that singer Priscilla Block really respects and looks up to.

Per Country Now, the "Bad Guy" vocalist, 30, from Raleigh, North Carolina, talked about that when she was on The Blind Podcast. Block said she thought everything to fall into place in her music career quicker than it did. Then she realized that the tough times made the triumphs worth it.

She said, "My first number one was my third single at Country radio and before that I'm like, 'damn, why isn't this happening?' I'm like, those were also big moments for me. Not every single song in every single moment is going to be big, but if you appreciate it, all the bigger moments feel better."

Block Reveres Miranda Lambert

Block truly admires the "Somethin' Bad" singer. Lambert built her amazing career slowly and steadily, one step at a time. Success did not come as a sudden windfall. Block observed, "I look up to Miranda Lambert a lot and back to her just building her tickets and putting out music consistently throughout the years and I don't know, [it] makes every single moment super special when it happens."

Another Role Model Is Lainey Wilson

It sounds like the "Somewhere Over Laredo" has been a mentor for Block. Wilson also worked very hard for a long time to be a buzzed-about celeb. Per the outlet via The Blind Podcast, Block said, "Lainey Wilson is just, she's always been one of those people that I feel like if there was anything that I needed or another girl to confide in, I feel like I could pick up the phone and call her anytime."

She Developed a Philosophy From Her Experiences

Priscilla Block has learned so much from her time in the country music genre. She formulated a smart, sound philosophy that will stand her in good stead for years. "I think good songs win and good people win and I'm just going to try and continue to put out the best music I can. And I hope that it continues resonating with people."
