When you think about Ralph Macchio, you're probably thinking of The Karate Kid. His work as Daniel LaRusso cements the film as an all time classic. It even spawns a few ill-advised sequels in the process. You might recall him playing Johnny Cade in Francis Ford Coppola's The Outsiders if you're really hip to his filmography. But usually, you're thinking about him alongside Mr. Miyagi. Ralph eventually stars in the Karate Kid reboot series Cobra Kai to keep the classic's memory alive. Now, he's looking to pull that off with another one of his big roles.

Recently, Macchio spoke with PEOPLE about the end of Netflix's Cobra Kai series and what's next on the horizon for him. Apparently, he's been eyeballing ways to introduce a new spin on the cult classic My Cousin Vinny. In the 1992 original, Ralph plays Bill Gambini, the teenage cousin to Joe Pesci's Vinny. Now, he's trying to figure out ways to introduce it to new generations. "Yeah, I've had conversations with other writers about that." he reveals. "Yeah, that one's a beloved piece. It's about finding the smart angle in."
Ralph Macchio Wants to Star in a My Cousin Vinny Reboot Next
It seems Macchio has a strong affinity for restoring old classics of the past and sharing them with the current generation. For starters, he gets the opportunity to rub shoulders with fans who grew up with movies like The Karate Kid. Moreover, Ralph also gets to find ways to tell new stories and ensure that the originals never get forgotten.
Consequently, when it was time to call it a wrap on Cobra Kai, he knew he was going out on a high note. "It was really fan service and harkened back to the great '80s movies. It felt like a big fat, '80s movie," Ralph says of the nostalgic series finale. "You're hugging the stranger next to you, just getting a little misty-eyed and a lot of F-yeah moments, and so we miss those in movies these days. So it was nice the guys were able to do that honestly and earnestly."
