Reality Star Steve McBee Found Guilty in Multi-Million Dollar Crop Insurance Case

Reality star Steve McBee has been sentenced to two years in prison, but that's apparently not stopping the McBee Dynasty.

52-year-old reality star Steve McBee has been sentenced to two years in federal prison. McBee, in a way, got lucky, as he legally could have received up to 30 years. The reason? The famous farmer has been found guilty in a multi-million dollar crop insurance fraud case.

It all started in 2018, when McBee submitted false crop yield reports to Rain and Hail. Rain and Hail is an agricultural insurance company that provides crop insurance to farmers, like McBee. McBee has owned his farm in rural Missouri since 1998 and has been farming since 2005.

In November of 2024, McBee admitted to one count of federal crop insurance fraud, confirming that he underreported his corn and soybean production between 2018 and 2020. The reports he would have given to Rain and Hail made it appear that he had smaller harvests than he did in those years, while he sold corn and soybean crops to other parties.

According to the Department of Justice, McBee (allegedly intentionally) did not report 674,812 bushels of corn and 155,833 bushels of soybeans. This resulted in more than $4 million in losses for the federal government. McBee will be serving two years in federal prison, with two years of supervised release to follow.

The McBee Dynasty Has Been Renewed for Season 3

When he's not raising crops, McBee is the star of a reality show, The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys. In the show, the McBee brothers fight to take over the McBee farming empire, which is a billion-dollar business.

Season 2 of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys aired in September of 2025, and season 3 is on the way. However, it's definitely got to be a question in fans' minds what to expect from the new season since it looks like McBee might not be there for much of it.

Just yesterday, Bravo TV announced that Season 3 of the show is officially happening on Instagram. The post shared, "Saddle up folks! #TheMcBeeDynasty has been renewed for Season 3. The exciting news was confirmed by @variety on October 15, with the outlet revealing that cameras will be rolling ahead of Steve McBee's sentencing."

Well, they say the show must go on. And I guess in this case, it's no different for the McBees.
