Detective Killed By Son A Day After Reporting Him Missing

John "Jack" Miller was a retired detective. The 75-year-old lived in Long Island and his son had moved in with him following a divorce. Additionally, Jack had recently reported his son, Christopher Miller, missing. His father had not heard from Christopher for a bit of time, so he decided to report him missing.
Unbeknownst to Jack, Christopher had been involved in an automobile accident. Christopher returned home after being treated at the hospital for his injuries. However, the homecoming did not appear to be a happy occurrence.
Supposedly a heated fight broke out between the pair. Then, the NY Post shares how that argument led to bloodshed. They share, Christopher "allegedly blasted his father multiple times with a shotgun during an explosive argument inside their Dix Hills house around 7:25 a.m."
From there, he fled the scene and hid in a nearby shed. Unfortunately for Christopher, his doing so spooked the homeowner. Therefore they called 911 and Christopher was apprehended. The officers who found Christopher returned to his father's home and "found the father dead in a pool of blood."
Christopher was then arrested and charged with murder. His arraignment is pending.
Another Unfortunate Killing
Unfortunately, this is not the only instance of a child-killing their parent. On March 19, 2025, Nicholas Prosper was sentenced to life in prison for brutally murdering his mother and two siblings. This teen not only killed his family back in 2024 but also planned on carrying out a mass shooting as well. However, he never got the chance.
His plans of killing his family in their sleep got thwarted, so he ended up engaging with them while they were awake. Their pleas for help, and screams while he ended their lives alerted the neighbors. The neighbors then called the police, who arrived and took Prosper into custody.
