Senior TikTok Star Reatha 'Rose' Grey Passes Away
The Retirement House announced Grey's tragic death on January 21 in a TikTok video in loving memory of her. Grey played a grandma named Rose alongside five other seniors with their own funny characters.
"Our dearly beloved friend, Reatha 'Rose' Grey, has passed away," Jerry Boyd who plays Curtis said. Then Mabel, played by Elizabeth Gaylynn Baker, chimed in. "You may remember her as the hilarious grandma, Rose, on Retirement House. But of course, we remember her as a member of our family."
"She was hilarious, thoughtful, and above all else, loved interacting with everyone," said Chuck Lacey, also known as Eugene. Larry, played by Monterey Morrissey, revealed to fans that they made Grey's final years "so memorable."
Throughout the final half of the video, the cast shared a compilation of some of Grey's funniest and best moments. The clips went from Grey skydiving, to dancing passionately, and traveling the world.
"Do things that make you happy," Grey said over the compilation. "Take time for yourself, and last, but I think probably most important, is to always love. People will try to poke you and make you hate them. Just pay no attention to that. Just love and forgive and you'll have a very happy and fulfilled life."
The comments from fans were filled with mournful remarks. "I am so sorry for your loss," one fan wrote. "I will forever hear her voice saying 'Do things that make you happy'."
"Ms Rose was definitely that girl.. may she rest in peace," another said.
The Retirement House responded to a comment saying how terrible 2025 was. "2025 has been tough for us as well but we must remember, things always get better," they said.
Someone else mentioned how much of a diva Grey was, in which the Retirement House said "She was THE diva! We love her so much and appreciate the kind message."
The original idea for the Retirement House came from two young content creators named Adi Azran and Brandon Chase. In an internet space filled with young people, they wanted something different that would showcase an older crowd instead.
After looking over hundreds of submissions, the two creators chose these six seniors. They started the project in 2021, and after four years the account grew to six million followers.
