Riley Green Leaves Door Open to Another Collab With Ella Langley: "That's Really Worked Well"

There is no doubt about the success and popularity of "You Look Like You Love Me." The Riley Green and Ella Langley duet was a monster smash. Any metric you use to measure it proves the point. For example, the song cleaned up major honors at the recent CMA Awards on November 19. It took home Music Video of the Year, plus Song and Single of the Year. That was an unprecedented feat. No previous tune ever nabbed these three awards all at once. On top of that huge accomplishment, "You look Like You Love Me" racked up over 260 million Spotify streams. You get the idea.

The country crooners also got together for "Don't Mind If I Do." It's on Green's recent LP of the same name.

Why "You Look Like You Love Me" Was Such a Big Hit

What made the song so acclaimed? It could have been a few factors. The talk-singing style of the track recalls the traditional days of yesteryear in a way that fans loved. Also, Green and Langley have potent chemistry, so much so that people assume they are in a relationship. (They have denied those persistently swirling rumors.) And the video set in the Wild West of yore is a real treat, with a nice cameo from Jamey Johnson as the sheriff who is after Green.

Green Sounds Open to More Duets With Langley

Per iHeart Country, "It would be really difficult not to try to do another song with Ella because that's really worked well," the "Worst Way" singer said. Green went on, "I think any collaboration that I do has got to be something that's really organic. And just, you know, somebody that I have a relationship with, somebody I'm friends with, somebody I'm a fan of, and has the same musical inspirations that I did. I think me and Ella grew up the same way, and I think fans can tell when it's real."

He mentioned, "There's certainly some collaborations that go through management and labels and the proper channels, and I've never done it that way. It's always been somebody I'm friends with [that] says 'hey, I like this song, wanna be a part of it?'"

He Talked About His Award-Winning Hit With Langley

Green explained, "I thought it was a cool thing. I thought the chorus was catchy. It stayed in your head, but then we played it on the road and it became a thing. You couldn't open your phone without hearing it, and it became a radio hit. 'Don't Mind If I Do' is kind of the same way. I had no idea it was gonna be that. So, I got to watch fans' excitement when Ella would come out on stage with me when we were on tour together, and we would do those songs. That doesn't happen much for an artist, two artists to have two really big songs together while they're touring together. We got to do that for the better part of two years."
