Riley Green Recalls Bizarre Encounter With 'Landman' Actor Years Ago at the CMAs

Both country music star Riley Green and actor Sam Elliott are riding high these days, with careers that are doing very well. Green is more in demand than ever, while Elliott, 81, nabbed a juicy role as Billy Bob Thornton's dad on the TV drama Landman. The two celebs met years ago at the CMA Awards. Green, 37. recently described it in detail when he was a guest on the Like a Farmer podcast. The "Worst Way" crooner was questioned about really interesting people he has encountered and what the circumstances were. Green did not hesitate.

Green Remembers the Weird Incident Well

The singer earned a trio of CMA Awards last month for his wildly successful duet with Ella Langley, "You Look Like You Love Me." The talk-singing story song was loved by fans, who could hardly get enough of it or the two stars that performed it. He and Langley have also done another popular duet, "Don't Mind If I Do." Green mentioned that he ran into actor Billy Bob Thornton of Landman at the glittering CMA event in November and enjoyed it.

But Riley Green met another Landman star a while back at the CMAs and that was not so friendly. In fact, it was a bit on the gruff side. Green shared, "[I met] Billy Bob Thornton the other day at the CMA's. That was cool. I met Sam Elliott several ears ago at an award show, him and Ashton Kutcher were there promoting 'The Ranch' show on Netflix. And we spoke, but he didn't say  a word."

The country singer continued, "I just said, 'Hey, how are you doing?' when I walked by... he just growled at me. Which was awesome, but we didn't really meet, so I'll just say Billy Bob Thornton."

He Has Been Busy Lately

Green has not been wasting time these days. There might be new music in the pipeline from him, and his Cowboy as It Gets tour will take him nationwide. States where Green will perform next year include New York, Georgia, New Jersey, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, and Connecticut, plus many more.
