Ever since Sabrina Carpenter released a version of "Please Please Please" with her idol, Dolly Parton, fans have been wondering whether or not Carpenter will bite the bullet and go full-on country. Well, this weekend, the singer teased us again by singing with another country legend, Shania Twain.

At the Austin City Limits festival, Sabrina messed with the crowd by telling them about her love language before inviting Twain on the stage. "I show love in weird ways. One of the ways I show my love is by gift-giving. That's one of my languages, and I thought it'd be fun to give you guys a little gift tonight." The singer continued, "Give you a little present because you all showed up and showed out for all of us - Will you please make the most noise in the world for the incredible, one and only Shania Twain?"
Then, Twain and Carpenter proceeded to do a duet of her song, "That Don't Impress Me Much". Carpenter gushed in an Instagram post later recapping the show, "ACL weekend 1??? . @aclfestival. Crowd of my dreams. Shania of my dreams. Djo of my dreams. what a perfect night. thank you all so much for coming out and singing loudlyyy just how i like it."
Sabrina Carpenter Made Her Own Spotify Wrapped
Carpenter, who grew up on the internet and via acting on shows like Girl Meets World, has always been an open book about her love for music and her biggest inspirations. In an interview with Teen Vogue in 2018, Carpenter shared that the song "Rocky Racoon" by Paul McCartney inspired her to become a songwriter.
On The Late Show with Steven Colbert, Carpenter said, "When I was very, very young, my dad played me 'Rocky Raccoon' for the first time and I was so mesmerized by that song and the songwriting of it all that I fell in love with Paul McCartney." She added, "I was convinced that was my husband, my future husband."
Carpenter even shared that her own song Espresso made her Spotify Wrapped last year, alongside some of her favorite artists. "I guess it's a good thing that I'm on my list and listening to my own music, because it means I f--- with what I do," she said. "But the other ones were Dolly Parton, ABBA, Kacey Musgraves, and the Bee Gees."
With Sabrina's influences coming primarily from folk, country, and 80s pop, it makes perfect sense why her album Man's Best Friend sounds the way it does. It should be interesting to see what musical direction Carpenter takes in the next year, and we're excited to follow along.
