If a famous person starts contacting you asking for anything, do not respond. Garth Brooks, Kid Rock, or anyone else for that matter, will not try to get money from you; it's a scam. I can't believe I even have to write that.

Hubris can be the downfall of even the greatest among us. This is what people play on when they use famous names to scam people out of money. There are thousands of accounts out there, some even run by AI, that pretend to be celebrities, and start whole relationships with people online in an effort to extort some money. People genuinely believe that famous people want to be their lovers/friends.
Part of me feels sorry for the sad, lonely folk who fall for it; more of me thinks they had it coming.
Most people won't fall for it when someone like Kid Rock or Garth Brooks contacts them out of the blue asking for money. No matter how much charm and proof the scammer provides, most of us have the wherewithal to know it's a trap. I say most, but currently, 1 in 3 people have been scammed out of money in the US in the last year.
On average, Americans have lost $2,647 to scammers so far in their lifetime. This is shockingly high. Of course, this isn't just people thinking a famous person is asking for money, the scams come in all forms.
Judge Issues Warning To Potential Victims Of Celebrity Impersonating Scammers
There has been a massive increase in scammers using celebrity names to con people out of their cash of late. Using tools like AI image generation, all sorts of things can be done with celebrities. Michigan attorney general Dana Nessel has issued a warning to people who think they're in relationships with people like Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry, and others.
"While it may be disappointing to hear, you are probably not in a secret, long-distance relationship with Garth Brooks. Scammers are constantly coming up with elaborate schemes to steal your money and may be posing as celebrities or public officials. If someone claiming to be Garth or any other famous figure is asking you personally for money, don't send it. It's almost certainly a scam."
It's pretty simple, really. Unless you're meeting the person face to face, keep your wallet closed.
