Deep-voiced country crooner Scotty McCreery was walking on clouds after a very special visitor arrived at his recent show at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth, Texas.

"Y'all won't believe this," McCreery begins a Facebook post. "Forty-five minutes before my show last night at Billy Bob's and theres a knock on my bus door. My tour manager says, 'Hey, Scotty come here.' So I walk up to the front of the bus, look out the window, and who is standing outside my door?! RANDY TRAVIS!!!"
He goes on to say the legendary singer made an effort to drive out to his performance that night. They talked for awhile before McCreery hit the stage. Travis and his family stuck around to watch the whole show from stage side.
Talk about a cool honor. Even more serendipitous? Scotty McCreery says years ago he and the band worked up Travis' "Forever And Ever, Amen." But for whatever reason they never played it — until that night.
To play that song while the original artist is singing and dancing in the wings? Now that's a career highlight.
Scotty McCreery made several appearance at Billy Bob's over the years. The 23-year-old North Carolina native plays well at the iconic Texas venue known for two-stepping. It helps that McCreery carries with him a slightly more traditional country sound on some of his releases.
Randy Travis is making the rounds lately, which is an excellent thing to see. The country legend suffered a stroke in 2013, and doctors said he may never walk again.
Travis proved them wrong by accepting his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on his own, and then again with his appearance at the CMA Awards last November.
Now, Travis has a performance slated in February. He'll sing with his original band as part of a massive tribute to him at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. A portion of the proceeds from the star-studded event go to the Randy Travis Foundation. The organization focuses on stroke research.
And yes, Scotty McCreery will be there.
