Earlier this year, Grimes announced on social media that he would be returning to the Yellowstone universe. In his caption, he wrote, "Cowboys don't say goodbye, they say see you later."

Actors Gil Birmingham and Mo Brings Plenty will join Grimes as Thomas Rainwater and Mo, respectively. Brecken Merrill will also star as Tate Dutton.

What's This New "Yellowstone" Show About?

According to Variety, which reported the casting news, the show's logline is:

"With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Kayce Dutton (Grimes) joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty, and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence."

The show will also feature Arielle Kebbel (Rescue: Hi-Surf, Ballers), Ash Santos (Pulse, Mayor of Kingstown), and Tatanka Means (Killers of the Flower Moon, Reservation Dogs) as members of the U.S. Marshals.

Brett Cullen (Apollo 13) will be in a recurring role as the head of the U.S. Marshals in Montana. Rounding out the cast is Logan Marshall-Green, who will play a friend of Grimes' character from when he was in the military.

When Is the New "Yellowstone" Spinoff Supposed to Begin?

Unlike Yellowstone, which aired on the Paramount Network, Y: Marshals will be broadcast on television via CBS. It is expected to debut midseason. It can be assumed that episodes will stream the next day on Paramount+, as is typical for CBS shows.

Of course, Y: Marshals isn't the only Yellowstone spinoff coming to television screens. Previous shows include the prequels 1883 and 1923, which also aired on Paramount+. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel series titled The Madison is in development. Another prequel series, 1944, is also in the works. It was also recently announced that a show featuring characters Beth and Rip will feature actress Annette Bening
